Chinese Government Scholarship is a scholarship set up by the Chinese government to facilitate students and scholars from all over the world to conduct their study and research in Chinese universities. The scholarship aims to increase the mutual understanding and friendship between people of China and people from the rest of the world and to develop the communication and cooperation between China and the rest of the world in the field of Education, Technology, Culture and Economics.

QUALIFICATIONS
(1) Academic Background: Applicant must have completed a four-year undergraduate degree for master degree pursuer and a master degree or equivalent for PhD degree pursuer.

(2) Chinese Language: Applicant must be willing to learn Chinese language, if applicable, and receive education in Chinese language.

(3)?Health: Applicant must be mentally and physically healthy.

Students currently studying in China are not applicable. Students who have been granted for other Chinese scholarship or funding?2012-2013? are not applicable.

TERM OF SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarship will be tenable for three years and four years from the date of award for masters’ degree and PhD degree, respectively. One-year preparatory education in Chinese language prior to grantees’ study of his major will be provided with full scholarship benefits if deemed necessary.

Applications are accepted from October 15th 2011 to December 15th 2011. Notification of successful applicants will be posted on the official web site of the Institute for International Students Nanjing University in March 2012. School year starts from 1st of September, 2012.

The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API Fellowships Program) is designed to stimulate the creation of a pool of such intellectuals in the region. They aim to promote mutual learning among Asian public intellectuals and to contribute to the growth of public spaces in which effective responses to regional needs can be generated.

General eligibility for both the API Senior and API Fellowships

• Applicants must hold the nationality or proper residence status of one of the five Participating Countries and reside in the country (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand) at the time of the application;
• Applicants must attend the interview at the designated date and place;
• Applicants must propose research projects and/or professional activities which start after July 1, 2012 and should be completed on or by the end of July 2013;
• Applicants must have a basic knowledge of English. An ability to speak a language/s of the country/ies where the proposed research project and/or professional activities are conducted will be an asset; and
• Applicants must be based in the region/country and will continue to be so in the future.
• When selected, they must attend the orientation in February/March 2012. Absence from the orientation may cause the cancellation of the selection.

Eligibility for the API Senior Fellowships

In addition to the general eligibility above, the applicants for the API Senior Fellowships must:

• Be 40 years of age or more as of August 31, 2011 (exceptions may be made);
• Have the ability and experience to conduct research projects and/or professional activities in the Participating Countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand) other than his/her native country or country of residence;
• Undertake the proposed research projects and/or professional activities in up to four of the Participating Countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand), but in a country/ies other than in the applicant’s native country or country of residence;
• Undertake the proposed research projects and/or professional activities for a continuous period of between one to 12 months; and
• Have the ability, influence, and means to disseminate the results of their research projects and/or professional activities.

Eligibility for the API Fellowships:

In addition to the general eligibility above, the applicants for the API Fellowships must:

• Be under the age of 40 as of August 31, 2011 (exceptions may be made);
• Have the ability and desire to engage in research projects and/or professional activities in the Participating Countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand) other than his/her native or country of residence;
• Have a strong potential to contribute to their field in the future;
• Undertake the proposed research projects and/or professional activities for a continuous period of between four to 12 months; and
• Undertake the proposed research projects and/or professional activities in up to two of the Participating Countries (Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand), but in a country/ies other than the applicant’s native country or country of residence.

Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarships (MIFRS)

The Melbourne International Fee Remission Scholarship (MIFRS) is awarded to international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne. MIFRSs are funded by the University with each faculty having a limited number to award.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered for an MIFRS, applicants need to have an unconditional offer of a place in a graduate research degree course (eg masters by research, PhD or other research doctorate) at the University of Melbourne. Further information concerning the eligibility criteria can be found in the conditions.

Only open to international applicants (ie. citizens of countries other than Australia and New Zealand who are not Australian permanent residents.)

Closing date and timelines

Applicants should submit their online application for admission by 31 October. Applications received after this date will only be considered for any MIFRSs that remain at the time the application is assessed for scholarship.

Qualifications:

Self-supporting international students from countries specified by the foundation (see below for the list of specified countries), who are/ will be enrolled in the regular course. (With a “College Student” visa)
With enough Japanese language ability for study/research.
Enrollment period of the course currently enrolled in should be more than one year from October 2011 (However, this does not apply for those enrolled in the doctoral course).
Parents should not be working in Japan.
Not holding a doctorate degree.
Interested in international understanding and friendship and able to participate in the foundation’s exchange activities.
Not receiving any other scholarships.

However, students who are receiving a scholarship this academic year, but will not receive any after April 2012 are eligible to apply for April 2012 scholar. Countries specified by the foundation:
